Abstract

The article is dedicated to the problem of searching oil and gas fields in the Tashkent basin. The issue of assessing the prospects for petroleum potential in the Tashkent basin remains relevant. In the article, the authors attempt to quantify the predicted localized geological resources of oil and gas in the indicated depression using the method of geological analogies. The Tashkent Basin is a second-order tectonic structure located in the eastern part of the Syr Darya syneclise. The sedimentary basin cover is composed of Cretaceous, Paleogene, Neogene and Quaternary deposits. The total capacity of sedimentary formations here reaches over 2000 meters. The Cretaceous and Paleogene deposits in the basin are promising for oil and gas. The nearest regions with proven oil and gas content – the Fergana Basin and the Bukhara Step - are chosen as comparison objects. In the Ferghana Basin, the Eocene deposits are chosen as an object of comparison, in particular, oil and gas horizons IV and V. These horizons are regionally spread and industrially productive in more than 30 fields. Therefore, they are logical objects for the method of geological analogies. In the Bukhara Step, the Antean stage deposits are chosen as an object of comparison, in particular, gas-bearing horizon XII. Within a given horizon, over 20 gas deposits have been discovered. It is regionally spread, thus allowing us to predict the gas-bearing capacity of the corresponding deposits of the Tashkent Basin. Due to the complexity of the search for oil and gas fields in the Tashkent Basin, the authors propose to supplement traditional search methods with such a specific method as biolocation. Some experience of conducting these works in this region has shown that its spontaneous and chaotic usage is inefficient and leads to a lack of positive results. Therefore, the authors provide certain recommendations for the systematic application of the biolocation method at different stages of oil and gas operations: during prospecting and exploration drilling, field development, geophysical design, etc.
