In recent years, a significant proportion of the Ukrainian population has increased the number of cars used in everyday life. The rapid growth of the automobile fleet, both in Ukraine and worldwide, leads to the constant accumulation of waste from vehicle operation. One source of environmental pollution is worn vehicle tyres. It is well known that they are not biodegradable, flammable and toxic. In the event of a fire, they are difficult to extinguish. When stored, they provide an ideal breeding ground for rodents and insects, and they can also serve as a source of infectious diseases. Therefore, the problem of recycling worn tyres is of great environmental and economic importance to all developed countries. As waste, worn tyres take up a lot of physical space and are difficult to compact, collect and eliminate. The uncontrolled storage of tyres in open areas or waterways increases the risk of environmental pollution and poses a serious threat to human health. Authorised storage methods have fewer negative consequences than uncontrolled storage, but they either create their own risks of environmental pollution or do not allow for the capture of significant volumes of waste by an economically advantageous method of disposal. The accumulation of large quantities of rubber waste leads to its unorganised storage in landfills or its uncontrolled dispersion in the environment, thereby increasing the level of environmental hazard in nearby areas due to the release of harmful substances.
